Troop 82 Continues with Memorial Day Reflections and Traditions

Memorial Day 2016 saw two groups of Troop 82 boy scouts venture into the Elmhurst community to honor our nations fallen heroes.

On Saturday, May 28th, a large group of scouts visited Elm Lawn and Arlington cemeteries, placing American flags at the graves of military veterans. Both cemeteries are home to a large contingent of our nations past military forces, and the scouts spent two hours placing flags at over 350 sites.

On Monday, May 30th, Troop 82 boy scouts took part in Elmhurst’s Memorial Day parade. Marching through town, the group carried three flags, each representing a different war during America’s history.  The scouts then saluted the honored military veterans seated on the podium at the parade’s conclusion.

Each event is an annual tradition within the troop, and provides two great opportunities to give back and say thanks those who gave their lives for our freedom.
