Scouting at Home

Posted by Paul Rodgers on Apr 11, 2020

Various resources have been created on-line to help Scouts continue to work toward advancement on-line.  Three Fires Council has added a digital resources page on its website at this URL:  https://threefirescouncil.org/digital-scouting-resources/.  Here are some of the resources it includes:

·        30-day Advancement Challenges:  For each of the first four ranks, Scout through First Class, there is a calendar with activities to do each day to complete some or all of the requirements for the rank.  In these unusual circumstances, we will accept written material for some of the requirements and can schedule video chats to complete others.  I will send out some more detailed instructions to those working on these ranks.  Some of the requirements do need to be done in person or outside, so those will have to wait, but let get done what we can do at home.

·        Merit Badges:  There is a list of merit badges that can be completed at home at this link:  https://threefirescouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Merit-badges-for-extended-periods-at-home-1.pdf.  As always, please contact me or Mr. Odom to get a blue card and the name of a merit badge counselor before you begin work on any merit badge.

We want the Scouts to continue to work on advancement and progress in their ranks despite the shelter at home situation.  We can do Scoutmaster meetings and Boards of Review on-line.  If you have completed a rank, please e-mail Mr. Odom (Kenneth.odom@att.net) and me and we will make arrangements for virtual reviews
